Brandt Hamby, Managing Director, Six Pillars Partners
Brandt leads equity investments in mid-market growth businesses by partnering with accomplished managers/board members with the goal of creating value for all stakeholders (board, management team, employees, and investors). He’s spent the last 20+ years in various roles including start-up co-founder, public company executive, and private equity investor. He enjoys the creation of partnerships that strike a balance between profit and purpose. When he’s not making investments, he is partnering with his wife of 25 years on perhaps the most challenging role – raising their three kids.
Brandt currently serves as co-founder and Managing Director of Six Pillars Partners (SPP), an independent sponsor private equity and advisory firm focused on opportunistic investments in middle market technology companies. He currently serves on the boards of Cadient Talent LLC, Wood Networks LLC (chair) and Tax Advisors Group LLC. He is a past board member for the DFW Association of Corporate Growth (ACG), University of North Texas Alumni Association, and the Sigma Nu Alumni Association.
From 1995 to 2007, Brandt was a co-founder and executive with StraightSource, a pioneer in Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO). Within StraightSource, Brandt served in multiple roles including EVP of Global Marketing, EVP of Business Development, and COO. StraightSource was chosen as "RPO Provider of the Year" in 2006 by the HR Outsourcing Association and was sold to Kenexa (NYSE:KNXA) in 2007. At Kenexa, Brandt served as Executive Vice President and Vice President of RPO Marketing. He also assisted with several acquisition/integration initiatives made by Kenexa. Kenexa was sold to IBM in 2012 for $1.3B.
After Kenexa and prior to forming SPP, Brandt led several general partnerships that invested in distressed assets with realized returns over 26% IRR.
Brandt graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology in 1993. Brandt is an avid golfer, traveler, and reader.
Jack Sadden, Partner and Co-founder Valesco Industries
Jack has compiled a broad-based professional background that includes extensive experience in hands-on operating management, professional advisory, mergers, acquisitions, and corporate finance. Prior to Valesco, Jack was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for one of the largest independent fabricators of reinforcing steel in North America.
Earlier, he was a principal in a private equity firm where he was active as both investor and operator in building a portfolio of companies, through acquisitions and internal growth initiatives, having annual revenues in excess of $400,000,000.
His operations experience includes both executive and advisory posts working with distressed and turnaround businesses.
Jack began his corporate finance career with Arthur Young & Company (Ernst & Young) where, prior to his departure, he was acting director of the Southwest Region Merger & Acquisition Services Group. In his early career, he held a series of progressive management positions in operations with Club Corp.
Jack’s tenure in organization governance includes both corporate and professional association appointments to Boards of Directors. He is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Business and earned his license as a Certified Public Accountant in 1986.
Vik Thaper, Partner, Cypress Growth Capital
Vik has 17 years of experience spanning venture capital, private equity and information technology consulting. Vik’s responsibilities span all aspects of the investment lifecycle including identifying promising potential companies, conducting due diligence and providing ongoing support to portfolio companies especially with sales and business development initiatives.
Prior to joining the Cypress team in 2012, Vik served as a venture capitalist for a $200M investment fund sponsored by the State of Texas. In that role, Vik was responsible for identifying, qualifying and mentoring prospective portfolio companies. Vik also worked with a private equity firm, Lone Star New Markets. He spent the first decade of his career working in the information technology field as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies. Vik is also very active in the Texas entrepreneur community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of TeXchange, TiE Dallas, the Southwest Venture Forum and the University of Texas – Dallas Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. He holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University and an undergraduate degree from University of Texas at Dallas.
Larry King CPA, CGMA, Board Director, Advisory Board Member, CFO/COO/CCO, WHAMTECH, INC.
Larry is a proven and effective strategic leader and business builder with over 30 years of middle market leadership experience. He founded and grew KBA Group, LLP into the largest Dallas based CPA firm with over 135 professionals, 9 Partners and a diversified menu of services and led the firm’s organic and strategic acquisition growth. He then led the firm through a merger into a large national CPA firm, where he served as the Dallas office Managing Partner and then transitioned to the South Region Leader of their Transaction Services Group before retiring from the firm in mid-2015. He has extensive experience with assisting clients with business strategy, financial reporting including going public transactions, and mergers and acquisitions from both the buy side and sell side. Larry currently serves on the Board and as Lead Director and Audit/Risk Committee Chair for nDivision, Inc, a Dallas based Public Company in the IT managed services and outsourced help desk space. He is on the Advisory Board and serves as the CFO, COO, and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) at WhamTech, Inc., a privately-held SmartData Fabric®security-centric distributed virtual data, master data and graph data management, and analytics platform solutions company in Dallas, TX. The company currently offers managed products and services to a wide range of IT services, financial services, and defense industry companies ranging in size from Fortune 100 to middle market. Larry has worked with both domestic and international companies in numerous industries including manufacturing and distribution, technology, software, services, energy, logistics, healthcare, real estate and retail. He has served on multiple for profit and not for profit boards throughout his career and currently is on the Board of nDivision, Inc. (OTC-QB), Lead Director and Audit/Risk Committee Chair and member of the Compensation Committee and Governance Committee; on the Advisory Board for Amegy Bank-Dallas; on the Advisory Board for WhamTech Inc.; on the Advisory Board for BlockQAI LLC; on the Advisory Board of MoveStar, Inc., Current positions also include: Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) DFW, (President 2016/2017) (Ececutive Committee 2015-2018) (Advisory Council to the Board 2018 – current); TeXchange – DFW Advisory Board (2016 – current).
