Private financing is an increasingly important vehicle, particularly in a world of constrained debt financing and a plethora of public investment vehicles.  Private financing enables private companies to finance growth, ameliorate capital bottle-necks, bring expertise to the existing enterprise, and/or allow for an outside catalyst to provide a solution for succession planning and/or an ultimate monetization of the business.  For the inexperienced, the process of private financing can be daunting, where opportunity is often tempered by skepticism, inertia, and/or indifference.  The effective marriage of private capital to the enterprise can create significant opportunity and value.
