    BIOS

    LORI HESS - Currently a Partner at L&E Partners, Lori has spent the majority of her career working within or with the private equity community. From 1994-2007, she was with Charterhouse Group Inc., a middle market private equity firm in New York. There she developed the firm’s Healthcare industry vertical and was instrumental in the firm’s healthcare initiatives and portfolio companies, including the acquisition of Cross Country Healthcare, merger with its leading competitor and subsequent IPO. She sat on several of the firm’s healthcare portfolio company Boards of Directors and also co-led the firm’s Business Development function whereby she identified operating executives to lead new investment strategies as well as worked proactively with numerous deal and financing sources. Prior to the establishment of L&E Partners in November, 2010, Lori headed the US Private Equity Practice for Rice & Dore, a global executive search firm focused on alternative investment funds where Lori worked with senior level investment professionals as well as experienced operating executives. Between 1992 and 1994, Lori worked at Avon Products and Sterling Health, both in financial/strategic planning positions. Lori began her career with Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin in Los Angeles as a financial analyst. Lori resides in New York with her husband and son. She has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

    MICHAEL PFEFFER - Michael S. Pfeffer is co-founder and managing director of Post Capital Partners LLC and has over 20 years of private equity and m&a experience. Prior to Post Capital, Michael  was a managing director and partner at Charterhouse Group International.  While at Charterhouse, he was a member of the investment committee and had responsibility for several industry groups including, business services, technology, and environmental.  Previously, Michael was a senior vice president with GE Capital’s equity capital group, the private equity division of GE.  While at GE, he was the head of the consumer services principal investment effort. Michael is co-chairman of BHS Specialty Chemical and serves on the boards of EC Waste, DTT Surveillance, TBA Global, and Invo Healthcare. Michael is also a member of the boards of the NY Chapter of Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors and the Connecticut Chapter of Association for Corporate Growth. Michael received an MBA in finance from Columbia University and a BSEE from Tufts University. 

    THOMAS S. SHATTAN is Principal & Co-Chair of Shattan Mendel Enterprises, which he established in 2004.  Prior, Tom was a Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Shattan Group LLC (“TSG”), specialists in Private Equity Financings. It was considered the leading independent firm in the US in the business of raising Private Equity and Equity-related capital from institutional sources for private and public emerging growth/middle market companies. Prior to co-founding & managing TSG, Tom built three highly successful Private Equity Financing efforts over a 12-year period at Goldman, Sachs & Co.; Kidder, Peabody & Co.; and at Prudential Securities, Inc. Tom began his Investment Banking career as a VP with Goldman Sachs where he established and ran its Private Equity Financing effort from. Afterward, he became a Managing Director and Group Head at Kidder, Peabody, then Managing Director and Group Head at Prudential Securities. Having completed over 100 Private Equity transactions, he’s considered an expert in the Private Equity field, and has spoken at many Private Equity industry and other conferences, including INC. 500, YPO, SRI and Capital Roundtable events. Tom has a BA degree cum laude from Harvard College, and an MBA from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. Prior to Business School, Tom worked in the International Department of the Chase Manhattan Bank, where he ultimately became a Second Vice-President with responsibility for East and Central Africa.

    EDWARD BRAUM - Ed Braum is a partner in Ice Miller's Business Group. Ed focuses his practice on market leading complex corporate transactions, including leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity investments and joint ventures. Prior to joining Ice Miller, Ed practiced for 14 years at Goodwin Procter LLP in New York where he was a member of the Private Equity Group. Ed has extensive knowledge advising investment funds on structuring and effecting control and minority investments and divestitures and has acted in the capacity as outside general counsel to numerous portfolio companies. Ed has assisted clients in a wide range of industries including distribution, logistics, financial services, business services, contract research, pharmaceutical drug development, computer technology, consumer packaging and manufacturers in the defense, electrical components and home goods industries. Ed received his Bachelor of Science in business administration (finance and economics major), magna cum laude, from Robert Morris University and his juris doctorate from Boston University School of Law, cum laude.
