Tom Beeman served 33 years in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of Rear Admiral before retiring in 2016. He most recently served as Assistant Deputy Surgeon General where he was responsible for over 10,000 Naval reserve medical personnel stationed throughout the world. Tom has brought his strong military leadership to his years of CEO experience in the healthcare field. Tom will share his leadership model with examples in a highly interactive zoom room with plenty of time for discussion and questions.

Rear Adm. Thomas E. Beeman is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Ph.D. in Leadership and Policy. He is currently serving as the assistant deputy surgeon general for Reserve Affairs. Beeman also holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from St. Joseph’s University as well as Master of Business Administration from Widener University.

Commissioned as a lieutenant junior grade in August 1983, his assignments have included assistant officer in charge, Program 32 Unit, Naval Hospital, Philadelphia; administrative officer, Fleet Hospital, Fort Dix; officer in charge, Fleet Hospital, Reading Det.; executive officer, Naval Reserve Philadelphia Naval Base; staff officer, REDCOM IV, officer in charge, Det. C Fleet Hospital; executive officer and acting commanding officer, Fleet Hospital, Fort Dix; commanding officer, Operational Health Support Unit, San Diego. He was recalled to active duty in 2010 where he served as deputy commander National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) for the National Intrepid Center of Excellence.

Other assignments have included Special Reserve Component advisor to the chief of staff, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and Reserve Component specialty leader, Medical Service Corps for Health Care Administration. He currently serves as the assistant deputy surgeon general for Reserve Affairs having oversight of approximately 5,000 sailors. Under his direction are four Expeditionary Medical Units, six Operational Support Units and Reserve Component Navy Medical Education and Training Command. In addition, he serves on the Bureau of Medicine Executive Board.

A Fellow of both The American College of Healthcare Executives and The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, he is the author of "Leading From Within" and has published many academic articles.

In his role as president and chief executive officer of Lancaster General Health System, a large, complex health system in Pennsylvania, he leads more than 8,000 employees serving in hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities. He returned to this role in July 2011.

Beeman’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Naval Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal and various service medals and unit awards.
