Dr. Mark T. Maybury
Dr. Mark Maybury is the Vice President of Commercialization, Engineering & Technology for Lockheed Martin, responsible for leading efforts to commercialize dual-use products and services from research and development (R&D) to accelerate growth in strategic commercial and defense sectors. He works with Lockheed Martin’s business areas and functions, Corporate Technology Office, LM Ventures Investment Committee (VIC) and LMEvolve Board to strengthen commercial partnerships and licensing and to explore innovative business models that accelerate and scale new products and services in core and near adjacent markets.
Previously, Dr. Maybury was the first chief technology officer for Stanley Black & Decker, growing $1B in annual new product revenue from R&D. He served on the STANLEY Ventures Board, as executive champion for STANLEY X which incubated 7 startups, and as Executive Sponsor of STANLEY Techstars, accelerating 40 companies targeting VC and PE investment.
Dr. Maybury’s previous roles include Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force, Chief Technology and Chief Security Officer at MITRE and Director of the National Cybersecurity. He guided spinning out 5 commercial technologies/startups as MITRE CTO. Dr. Maybury serves as a special government employee for the Defense Science Board providing strategy and technology advice to the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He serves on several commercial boards governing innovation and growth. His past board service includes the Object Management Group, Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, Intelligence Science Board and Homeland Security S&T Advisory Committee.
Dr. Maybury is a Fellow of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. He received his BA in mathematics from College of the Holy Cross and MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also holds a Master of Philosophy in Computer Speech and Language Processing and Ph.D. in AI, both from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
Natalie Pierce
Natalie Pierce is a Gunderson Dettmer Partner and Chair of the Employment & Labor Group, and Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She focuses on the needs of emerging companies, venture capital, and growth equity firms. She also focuses on the future of work, including counseling companies on incorporation of GenAI and other technologies.
She hosts Gunderson’s FutureWork Playbook podcast and co-authored “Why Lawyers Must Responsibly Embrace Generative AI” featured in the Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog, Bloomberg Law, and Law360, and published by the Berkeley Business Law Review. She also co-authored the AI ethics chapter of “AI and the Legal Profession: Transforming the Future of Law,” “Legal Operations in the Age of AI and Data, Powered by AI – Shaping Tomorrow’s Workforce,” and the “AI In the Workplace” chapter of the ABA’s AI book published in 2024.
Natalie has received a variety of accolades, including being named a Fastcase 50 Award Winner, one of Daily Journal’s “Top Artificial Intelligence Lawyers” and “Top Labor and Employment Lawyers,” Chambers USA’s “Minority Lawyer of the Year,” American Lawyer “Best Mentor,” San Francisco Business Times “Bay Area’s Most Influential Women,” and she was a member of the Governing Council of the ABA’s Center for Innovation.
She earned her B.A. at UC Berkeley with Honors and law degree from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and recipient of the Emil Schlesinger Labor Law Prize at graduation.
Sofia Tenreiro
Sofia Tenreiro is a Senior Partner at Deloitte Portugal, being the Industry Leader for the Energy, Resources, and Industrials businesses.
She started her career at Procter & Gamble (B2C Marketing), in Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland, then heading to lead the most profitable division in L'Oreal Spain.
Following her journey in the FMCG industry, Sofia created the strategic B2C marketing team at Optimus Telco (Portugal) after which, still at Sonae, embraced the challenge to conduct the Commercial and Marketing transformation in Publico media group.
Later, an invite to join Microsoft Portugal as an Executive Board Member came up, where she transformed all Consumer and SME channels' business.
After 8 years, Sofia accepted the role of General Manager at Cisco Portugal, given her big passion for Digital and new Technologies as Cyber, Analytics, IoT, and Cloud.
In 2019, Sofia was appointed as Executive Board Member at Galp, Portugal’s leading Integrated Energy company, where she defined a new customer-centric strategy aimed at driving a profound business, digital, and cultural transformation while accelerating the energy transition.
In 2016, Sofia was appointed as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham). She graduated, in 2022, from the Harvard Business School, having completed the AMP, Advanced Management Program.

Sarah Alter
Sarah Alter has spent over 25 years transforming Fortune 500 organizations by building and rebuilding both B2B and B2C growth strategies as well as their brand and customer experience journeys. Her background is global having worked in the United States, Europe, and Asia and cross-functional having led teams and strategies in Marketing, Sales, Digital Technology, and Customer Service. Sarah held executive-level roles for such notable brands as Staples, Quill, and Discover Financial Services.
More recently, as CEO of NextUp whose mission is to advance all women in business, Sarah partnered with over 900 companies, half the Fortune 500, by providing leadership development regional networking, and corporate insights and solutions. Under her leadership, revenue grew by more than 60% and the membership community was diversified and grew 100% to over 18,000 and growing.
Currently, Sarah is serving on two for-profit boards and providing Go-to-market Strategic advice for organizations such as bluSparc, an Educational Tech ology Service Provider, and Automato AI, an AI-powered Content Management Provider for marketspace sellers. From a Non-Profit Board perspective, Sarah is on her third term for the Illinois State Lottery Advisory Control Board and just recently joined the Harvard Business School Women's Alumni Boards.
Sarah earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Northwestern. She and her husband and dog are now empty nesters in Glencoe with all three children launched and out adulting. Her favorite volunteer role is dog walking and snuggling at Orphans of the Storm!
